The M5 Pays for Itself in Savings on Electricity

Using Intel's New Atom Processor, 98% Energy Savings

Low Energy = Less Heat = Reliability = Savings
and Longer Life Cycle.

You can buy a PC, a Touch Screen, a Receipt Printer and you will have an Ugly jumble of wires and cables. For the same Cost you can have a good Looking Terminal that will pay for itself and Last a Long Time.

The electricity to run a PC can easily cost more than the PC. Heat is the main reason for the low reliability of PC's.

A 10 degree C Rise in Temperature will reduce the life an IC semiconductor chip by 50%.

Less Cost, Less Downtime, and Longer Life Cycle.

1.6Ghz Intel Atom N270 Benchmark,

More Computational Horsepower than a 2.60 Ghz Pentium 4M

Uses 98% Less Electricity
Higher Number = More Computational Power
The Intel Atom N270 uses less than 2% of the Electricity Used By a Pentium 4 All processors listed below the Intel Atom have Less Computational Power

3 Year Warranty

Samsung Bixolon SRP-275
3 Year Warranty

2 Year Warranty

Support for Other Hardware

We chose the above hardware and we believe it is the Best

These items were carefully selected This is the hardware we know

This is the Hardware we can Support

Selection Criteria:

  • Reliability
  • Value
  • Manufacturer Support
  • Manufacturer Reputation
A Note from Patrick Young, the developer

With 10+ years as an accomplished Electrical Engineer, and 20 years in POS manufacturing, marketing, sales, programming, installation, and support, I probably have the credentials to make an informed decision.

A product's reliability is often expressed as MTBF, Mean Time Before Failure. MTBF is usually misunderstood and is meaningless unless evaluated with understanding and common sense.

It is assumed by me that an All in One Terminal is a hands down better choice than a standalone CPU unit, separate touch screen, and printer. First of all the latter mismash is just plain ugly and the ugly is usually exposed to the customer. Accompanied by an accumulation of dust, dirt, and kitchen grease it's not pretty. And can get disgusting. Cleanliness is the number one criterion in customer satisfaction.

There are many other reasons the All in One Terminal is superior but is just too much to cover here. If anyone wants to debate this, you know my number and e-mail address.

Today the All in One Terminal is the most cost effective solution. It is a very common misconception the terminal is more expensive. Common sense says otherwise. The terminal must have fewer parts to fit in a small amount of space. Higher integration (more functionality per chip) and thus, fewer parts, less redundancy (e.g. enclosure, power supply) equals higher reliability. And LESS cost.

The Restaurant and Kitchen is a harsh environment for electronics. Any electronic device with a fan is a very bad idea in most environments. A sealed enclosure is best.

Up until recently a sealed case was not a viable option. The heat generated by electronic components has now been decreased significantly. As a former IC chip designer, I am qualified to say heat presents a multifaceted problem. An IC's voltage level and its transistor geometries (transistor size) and switching speed affect heat and energy consumption. The innovations over the past decade have now given us a very powerful components with less energy consumption and smaller physical size.

When I was designing Integrated Circuits in the mid 1980's, the size of a transistor was 70 times larger than today. An IC chip today will hold the equivalent of 70 chips in the same physical space compared to chips used back in the 1990's.

The PC used to enjoy a cost advantage from high volume manufacturing. The lower cost of automated manufacturing equipment now allows smaller scale production of application specific products (i.e. All in One PoS Terminals) to cost less than commercial high volume manufacturing.

Intel's new 2 Watt Atom processor, low energy DDR2 memory (127% less wattage than DDR), lower supply voltages, highly integrated application specific circuits for niche market PCs gives us a small, cost and energy efficient, low heat, and reliable PC.

Low heat is the key. No fans required. The fan is the most unreliable component in a PC. They also cause contaminants in the air to be deposited on the circuitry. Contaminants in the air can be corrosive (e.g. salt), or coat the components (dust, kitchen grease) acting like a blanket increasing the internal temperature and lowering reliability.

This PioneerPoS M5 Stealth is sealed from harsh environments and generates very little heat.

Heat is the biggest enemy of reliable electronic components. A one decree C rise in temperature decreases the life of a semiconductor (chip) by 5%. 10 degrees, 50%.

Higher reliability and lower cost, and less electricity demand than your commercial PC.
